yea ive seen it happen. ive played these servers for yea most host a day/week and just take off there are afew servers around that stay up awhile like yours. is it still up ? if not do u plan on opening it ?

I will reply, you are much worse. I've never met Daryl so I really don't know.
I am having second thoughts about releasing my finished particle engine once implemented into HB, just because of the points above. Nobody gives credit, if I released it as a binary every noob server would put "check out our cool effects that our coders made" (note the made). Copy + pasting code != made.
I don't think I'll ever really release anything major because people in the HB community basically ninja it and call it their own.

Sad but true. I originally got into this because i played back in betas, then game when p2p. i found private server looking for a host (ran a [pretty sure its dead now] RO server at the time) and i wanted to get back to this game.
I hosted files coded by well, douchebag that I cant remember the name of off hand (its changed like 5 times in the last year) where his only edits involved a new /shutdown delete files command.
after that grabed 2.24c from hbss and coded my own stuff, and they celeroth snoopy and diuuude contributed greatly to YAY!
this place is turing into lechery and nubs, and it hasnt gotten much better in my time away (if not worse =[ )
my suggestion is making it a linked dll or object, and probive some sort of api we can use if you want to protect source and limit nubs, but that wouldnt further anything at all.
