How To Host on the same Comp u want to play
Would be nice if this was a solution huh, lol. infact its a query for anyone out there with this information. Yea well Basicly i want to Host and play on the same computer, Now.. Ive had people connecting to me then i try and login and.. yea i cant get in. server mode = Lan And as well all know Lan = wan since its back to front with the servers configuration. So basicly if im running the server on INTERNET mode il be able to connect Thus, other people cant connect. Now there must be a solution out there for this problem ive hosted many mmo's and played them on the same computer before without any kind of trouble. So why isnt it possible..? or is it? lol
The answer is:
Dont use the hosting computer for nothing else than hosting.
Secound thing is if you dont have a server computer and a computer for other use, dont host at all if you want to stay serious and upp going for a loong time.
Ok now if you want to have a crappy server running on same processes as the computer you use for other things than hosting.
I got an answer for that to, See th search button on this forum??

Knowledge is brain food, I am hungry.. Feed me!
well i can play from the server, anything on the lan with server, and people outside of the lan.
how, set client ip to router's external ip as shown either by the router management, or whatismyip.com type of site
*note about this router and one of the later versions*
(i use a Linksys wrt45gv2 [dont use the v5, they changed the basic firmware and heard it sucks, unless you get the L version])
set set every ip in the server configs to a LAN ip, ex: 192.168.1.50 (something outside of the router DHCP address ranged, and staticed. EXCEPT the External Address in the GameServerConfig [GServer.cfg].
and set the server mode to LAN not internet.
now when you run on anything outside the lan, it is aimed at the router which forwards the ports to server and the server talks back, that works fine.
now for the lan computers the connection still goes to the external ip, which is the router, and when it gets to the router it realizes that its ports to forward are its destination so its sent back to the server under the IP 192.168.1.1 as the same thing happens with all of the clients in the lan
basically thats everything i got going for it
