Hate to add to an already overbloated topic, but MOG pretty much hit the nail on the head. I used to run one of the larger servers a while back for Sango, and that was pretty much the only time Filtered was worth a shit. Even then, it was fucked up beyond comprehension from sango, han and ronniel or whoever editing people for money or just because they are friends. Still, it was fun while it lasted.

Anyways, while the asian kids ran around and corrupted the server (and I'm not saying I didn't cheat a lot, but at least I kept it to one character and everybody knew it was the Admin running at them with statted items:), I kept getting spoofed e-mails from someone saying they were from iEnt.

Then one e-mail came, which I don't have in my possession anymore, which looked like an authentic sender. I was told I was violating Semen's IP, and that they were going to be given power of attorney or some bullshit to take action for "immense financial damages" to their company. We all know that's bullshit, HBUSA was pretty big then and was doing well. But it did seem to check out.

Then I got a cease-and-decist in the mail (I literally e-mailed the guy my address, knowing that his claim on representing someone else's IP and power of attorney bullshit), poorly worded and full of false legal jargon, I just laughed it off and threw it in a bin. I do believe if I searched my storage hard enough, I could find the letter.

In the end, nothing happened, despite my "non-compliance with a legal court order" -- that one cracked me up -- with what I believe were three or four authentic threats. It's all bullshit, they really can't do anything because it's not financially logical for them to persue a civil matter that would be tied up in court for many years.

I know, this isn't really adding any additional information on the subject, more so reinforcing the facts. If they wouldn't come after a server that would break 300 players every night for six months, they won't go after a server with 30 players where half are GMs or edited characters.

hah I hard this on the "grape vine" and yeah about 4 hours later I saw nothing had happened, guess I jumped too posting this shit because I was glad this fucker had got shut down(or I had thought).


Also if any of you have'nt noticed NOL has practically full on STOPPED ddos'ing anyone so they apparently have gotten scared by some legal threat.
