I remember this. DD didn't intend to release SQL files. He pasted their content to prove his point, which was that hb had started using sql. The usual gang of idiots demanded proof and so he posted it.

He didn't think that one day someone would leak hb sql logs, so his "release" was not intended as a release at all.

If he is smart enough is just easy supose that:

if he have the files, everybody can have them too (because he is not so especial)

so..

a ) If he didn't intend to release that file he is not that smart because assuming only he can have the files.

B ) Or he knew everybody can have the files but released them anyways, (what would mean he have now a oposite point than before)

Sure but this topic has been split so i think it's safe to post here. And since when keeping something to yourself is "egoist" (the right word is selfish in that context. Egoist in english is used to describe an objectivist). Please take no offence to the following analogies: GB, you own a car don't you? Why not leave it in the street with doors open and keys on the ignition? After all, you believe in sharing.

Or you might argue that you lose something, as opposed to sharing files. Ok, can your friends sleep with your girlfriend? You lose nothing, she comes back to you.

What, you don't want to share? That is soooo selfish

Anyway, please take that in the spirit it was intended. The DD being drunk thing was a joke. DD and I are not like scat and suxy, there is a fundamental difference. Knowing our weaknesses makes us stronger, and being sincere makes our love stronger. There can't be love without trust. Yes i do think DD is smart. I don't think this just because i love him. I see his defects as well as his genius and i think it's only the weak who have to pretend to be perfect all the time.

I just want to add something: DD doesn't need me to defend him, he can stand up for himself. What i am defending here is my own opinion and belief, which you don't seem to find valid.

Don't like others share? Don't donwload files, get them urself like you DIDN'T in the past.

Want to share your point? great, but don't fuck the forum AND don't use "foolish" or "bad" when you both got files in the past because of this public sharing ideas.

You didn't rip my point, you just showed you have a different attitude towards ownership. I don't see why you think i ever benefited from public sharing. Is it "foolish" to share? There is no right answer to that. Is it bad? Depends on the point of view. I'm sure siementech thinks it's bad. I'm sure the n00bs downloading the files think it's great.
But MY opinion (and i am not fucking up the forum, you will notice i am keeping this to this topic only) is that the more people have files the less they are worth to anyone. That helbreathss.tk site is a good example of this. Listing hundreds of servers that have no players.
Call me old fashioned but i still like the idea of one good free server with hundreds of players better than hundreds of servers with no players.
On a more personal note i don't know why i care enough about this subject to debate it. HB is long gone from my life, i am making my own game and my focus should be on that. Ok, back to work.

I'm not sure what the majority think about sharing, as it would matter anyways... But from my point of view, helbreath private servers' world was already a chaos after 2.20 (the last "stable" version that private servers had up), and people like HBX did a good effort to bring to us new versions for free.

From that point of view, I don't see what's the problem of sharing files, hb priv servers would be dead anyways if developers didn't bring "improved" versions of hgserver (non-stable, but still, "improved").

Unless you (MOG) let people play on your "real" files (sorry, the quotes is just because I never saw any files, and I believe only what I see...) and have some fun, players will always be looking for something new.

her files are real

i played on hbmog 3.2 then 3.51 and then they upgraded to 3.61

Anyways, it was nothing the point I was trying to defend. The question here was the sharing, and this discussion is endless: people will defend their point of view and don't seems like MOG or GoldenBoy will change their minds about sharing. Nothing will change, it's just a waste of arguments.

yes but, there are some missing points in dd's and mog point. They are agains sharing but they get files and stuff in the past because of others sharing... so that double-point (only because they think they had enough) is not smart.
