Hi All,

I was wondering, has anyone managed to run Helbreath on a machine running Windows Vista? As far as i know, Microsoft decided to drop all backwards compatibility with any directx version before 9.0. I was not able to run a HB client on my Vista machine (It boots, but DC's when moving monsters on screen ... Monsters not moving also. And unable to switch maps).

So if you managed to do so, could you please tell me how?

Thanks
Yahiko

Yea. I ran HBx off my vista ultimate and got in game on it too. Seems to work fine. Didn't seem to glitch for me at all.

Weird, i've tried it on a Vista Business machine. Firewall not enabled and logged in as Administrator. Did you actually tried to kill monsters?

Not really xD but everything else works on it. Games and apps alike.

I thought that vista was running both dx10 and dx9.. the whole thing with the backwards compatibility was that dx10 was not backwards compatible coz its based on completely different shit.. but i think that they have dx9 enabled too.. not sure i dont use shitty vista

Perfect case of ignorance. You don't have Vista yet call it shitty. There is no compatibility issue with dx10. It's all backwards compatible.

Vista has the d3d8, d3d9, d3d10, and ddraw7 dlls so it can run all of them just fine.

the fact is Microsoft released a fine system with it... but hey everything got bugs Vista include millions of codes you can be sure everyone add a wrong varriable or a wrong code... just give Microsoft some time. Vista wasnt released and they worked on the first SP1 for it... you can besure microsoft try all to make the system more stable and bugless....

Windows Vista plays in a complete other leauge like Windows XP... Its the same like Dell or so and Alienware... Alienware got the high end system Dell got normal Destkop PCs thats something completly different Windows Vista is the money worth yes you need very good hardware but i really think its the money worth.

i know that Dell bought Alienware but the fact is on the alienware site you can buy better systems than on the dell side... and by the way Windows Vista is the future not the past.... thats why not all drivers work on it...
